Focal Point 2024 Highlights

Return to Blog

With the new Worker Protection Act coming into force this year our focus has been on running events to help organisations prevent sexual harassment at work

We have partnered again with a range of organisations who are leaders in their field and share our goal of creating more inclusive, respectful and safer workplaces

Our events

Protect webinar

We were delighted to be part of the annual World Whistleblowers Day by running a joint webinar with Protect, which explored the role of whistleblowing in addressing workplace sexual harassment and the impact on victims.

Webinar and face to face workshop with IP Inclusive

Our joint webinar with IP Inclusive looked at the vital role of allies in helping to address sexual harassment. You can watch the webinar again here

This was followed in September with an in person event to take a deeper dive into understanding the barriers to speaking up about sexual harassment.

Workshop with Lawcare, legal mental health & wellbeing charity

In a year where Lawcare reported a 95% increase in the number of people saying that workplace bullying, harassment, or discrimination was their primary reason for seeking support from LawCare, we ran a joint workshop with them to address the root causes and identify practical steps to take.

PPMA The Public Services People Managers Association conference

We were very pleased to be asked to speak at the PPMA conference in April on “Banter; making or breaking barriers”

Leadership at the Edge Podcast

We were delighted to have Stella Chandler take part in the IoL podcast series  “Leadership at the Edge” Melanie Robinson deputy CEO of the institute interviews Stella about her experiences of everyday leadership practice and how this has shaped what we do at Focal Point.  Listen to the episode here

Accreditations and qualifications

Institute of Leadership accreditation

We submitted all four of our IoL accredited programmes for scrutiny and reaccreditation

All were approved with no further amendments or actions to be taken and our first line manager and middle manager programme received an uplift in status and recognition

Once again we have been delighted to see so many celebration events taking place with our clients when participants complete an IoL programme such as our group at Airpets!

If you would like to find out how you could be supporting your managers and leaders with a programme recognised by a leading leadership body, talk to us about our IoL programmes

We were delighted to have passed our ILm centre visit with flying colours again this year. Meeting the robust criteria set out by Ilm for any approved centre delivering qualifications is no mean feat – so particular thanks to our Ilm team

If you are interested in running management development programmes with a qualification for your people at the end of it, talk to us about our Ilm offering

We are donating to The National Autistic Society this year

Hiring a more diverse workforce and creating a more inclusive culture to support everyone is a vital goal for organisations. So we are delighted to support the National Autistic Society this year – especially for the work they do to help workplaces become better equipped to support autistic people.

If you would like to make a donation our just giving page is here
